Last week I went to the lake district to go kayaking, hiking and camping. A kind of guys bonding week and kayaking holiday. Being the gym addict that I am I was kind of annoyed (in a good way of course) that I couldn’t hit the gym to work out for the week. I was so wrong when I thought that a week of kayaking wouldn’t help my fitness; it did – I have never ached so much. Kayaking is like a gym session and then some.

Kayaking is an awesome way to cross train and really helped me re-evaluate my fitness program. Due to the overall, all over workout that you get Kayaking really tones every part of your body, from your arms to your core.

Before this weekend I was wed to the gym, I lived to lift but now I can really see why it makes sense to get outside and do some outdoor sports. Kayaking really shocks your shoulders, arms, chest and back and is a perfect sport for people of all fitness levels which means that next time I go I can go with my partner.

I had never been kayaking before and I was pretty stressed thinking that it would take a long time to learn how to do, but within a few hours I got the hang of everything and was paddeling away in no time.
