Running

It has been my experience that the type of running shoes you use can either make or break your run. Not all shoes are the same, and not all shoes are made for running. People who try to run with footwear not created for such an athletic endeavour will likely find themselves sore and easily injured. When I run, I notice how the shoes affect my ability to endure. The shoes determine how my calves, ankles, and feet feel during and after each run.

Fitness running shoes are an essential part of any runner’s wardrobe. If you’ve been running in any other type of footwear, stop! You’re going to hurt yourself. Running shoes are designed specifically with support and the proper fit to ensure a comfortable, safe run. If you don’t already have a pair of good running shoes, purchase a pair as soon as possible. You’ll notice the difference, believe me!

I used to be of the opinion that all running shoes were the same. I could go to the local department store, browse their shoe selection, grab the cheapest pair of running-like shoes from the shelf, and be completely okay. However, as I have watched those cheap running shoes break down within a couple of months and lose all semblance of support and comfort, I have started to rethink my idea of what makes a good running shoe.

Okay, you don’t have to go out and buy the most expensive running shoes on the market, but it doesn’t hurt to pay some cash for these things. Since they are the most important part of your running routine, it’s a good thing to splurge a little. Choose a shoe that is both durable and supportive, with a good arch in the middle. Shoes with breathable fabric are also great as your shoes won’t be incredibly stinky after a long run.

You also want to be sure the shoes fit well. Don’t listen to your mother’s old adage, “We’ll buy the next size up so you can grow into them.” You’re feet are now done growing, and it’s about time you learned to wear shoes that actually fit. Too much wiggle room or extra space around the feet means you won’t get the running support you need.

There isn’t too much to know about running shoes, as they are a pretty un-complex piece of athletic equipment. But, the right pair of running shoes will change the way you run and the benefits you receive from your fitness routine.
