ACI Maverick Paintball Marker Review

The Maverick from ACI is a pump paintball marker with a “Tru-Flow” valve that’s supposed to improve durability and efficiency of gas usage. The gun has a steel reinforced trigger and a factory auto trigger. It also has a device to prevent double cocking and double feeding. It comes with a really nice 12″ barrel and is mostly aluminum, except for the hard plastic grip frame. It looks like a sniper weapon, which is really cool, and the price should be around $70, which is pretty great.

Accuracy: Surprisingly excellent! Used with a sight I’ve seen this gun deliver ball on ball at over 50 ft range. Reasonable accuracy even at distances over 100 ft, easily. The gun is also very lightweight and that makes it very easy to move around with and aim quickly. The gun did come with a “low velocity” and “high velocity” springs though, and the “low-velocity” one came pre-installed and was pretty awful. You need to swap in the “high velocity” spring and then you’re good to go. Also, the barrel is a bit on the small size so you may need to experiment with the ammunition you use. Some brands performed poorly, but I’d say it’s not necessarily the marker’s fault since it performs brilliantly with other brands.

Durability/Maintenance: The gun is easy to take apart to clean and oil. It’s pretty low maintenance compared with some more complex markers. The materials also seem to be pretty hardy so I’d say this is a very durable pump paintball gun.

The only real problem with this gun is it is extremely loud. You’d have to replace the barrel to fix that problem, and if you’re looking for this gun because it’s cheap then you probably don’t want to do that. Still, if you don’t mind a paintball marker that is really loud so long as it’s durable and accurate, this is the pump paintball gun for you.
