The Usefulness of Hybrid Golf Clubs

Hybrid golf clubs are called as such because they have the weight and forgiveness of a wood but the loft and control of a blade iron. If your swing is a little out of whack, with a blade iron it could make all the difference in the world, but with a hybrid, it is much more forgiving. Hybrid golf clubs are a very forgiving and easy-to-hit club. Nowadays you rarely see someone golfing without some sort of hybrid club. They were first introduced in the early nineties but didn’t become popular in the United States until recently. Even though they are easier to hit than blade irons, they don’t give you as much distance and are a bit more difficult to put spin on the ball. If you are a beginner, and have some extra cash to spend on golfing, I would recommend getting some hybrid irons.

However, if you are a fairly experienced golfer and like to put spin on your ball and you like to have distance, I would go with blade irons. Even with hybrids being quite a bit easier to hit, they are not a necessity for a beginning golfer. Hybrid irons are more for beginners, however nearly 33% of all U.S. golfers carry some form of a Hybrid golf club in their bag. It all starts with consistency, the degree of loft is what most golfers are looking for. Most of the irons that are produced by golf club manufacturers seem to overlap each other, with that being said the ability to consistently strike the ball with the proper amount of loft is becoming increasingly harder. That is where the Hybrids come in. It’s a beginning point for most novice golfers to understand what needs to happen. There is a 24/38 rule, “24 degrees of loft or 38 inches or more of length.”

Where you see the center of gravity in your club or your swing directly effects the placement of the ball. In deciding what type of club you desire, think about your initial abilities. Are you comfortable with directing the loft of the ball, or do you possibly need a little help to place yourself as a golfer? Either decision you make is alright, you have to be comfortable.
